What are social casino "free credits"? How to claim free coins in 2026 and spot scams
Searching for "casino free credits" turns up two completely different things: free game coins from legal social casino apps, and illegal gambling sites advertising "free credits on sign-up, withdrawable as cash". The former are safe to claim; the latter is one of the most common scams in Taiwan.

Legit free credits: how to claim free game coins
For social casino apps on the App Store / Google Play, "free credits" are simply free game coins from the developer that let you play without spending money:
- Starter pack: given on your first login after downloading; linking an account usually adds more.
- Daily login / check-in: open the app every day to claim; the more consecutive days, the more you get.
- Timed free coins: many slot apps let you claim them every few hours.
- Missions & events: complete set missions and join holiday events.
- Official codes: get them only from official fan pages, LINE official accounts, and in-app announcements.
These game coins can only be used in the game and can't be exchanged for cash, and you don't need to top up to claim them.
6 warning signs of "withdrawable free credits" scams
- Ads saying "free credits just for signing up" or "cash out without topping up".
- You're asked to join via a link from a DM or LINE group, or to download an APK, outside the official stores.
- You win at first, then are told you must "top up to withdraw" or that you "haven't wagered enough".
- Withdrawals require paying a "tax", "deposit", or "unfreezing fee" first.
- Top-ups are by transfer to a personal account, convenience store payment codes, or cryptocurrency.
- People calling themselves "mentors" or "insiders" offer to guide you and guarantee profits.
Real-money betting sites are illegal gambling in Taiwan—players are penalized too, and lost money is hard to recover. If you get a suspicious invitation, call the 165 anti-fraud hotline or check the 165 anti-fraud website.

FAQ
What are social casino trial credits?
In legal social casino apps, "trial credits" are free game coins given out officially, such as starter packs and daily login rewards. They're for trying out the games and can't be exchanged for cash.
Is "free trial credits on sign-up, cash out anytime" for real?
This is the most common pitch used by illegal gambling sites and scammers. A typical trick is to let you win a little first, then demand that you "top up to cash out" or "pay a deposit / tax to cash out." After you pay, they never pay out or simply shut down the site. If you get messages like this, call Taiwan's 165 anti-fraud hotline to check.
Are social casino apps legal?
"Social casino games" (slots, poker, mahjong, fish shooting games, etc.) that are officially listed on the App Store or Google Play, use virtual coins, and don't let you exchange coins back into cash are video games and legal to play. Sites or apps where you bet real money and can cash out winnings are gambling, which is illegal in Taiwan (Criminal Code Articles 266 and 268), and players can be penalized too.
Can you cash out from a legal social casino?
No. Coins in legal social casino apps can only be used in the game, and there's no official way to exchange them for cash. If someone says you can "cash out" or "exchange for cash," it's not a legal social casino, or it's an illegal coin-dealer transaction.
Is it OK to buy or sell coins through "coin dealers"?
Not recommended. Official terms usually prohibit private coin trading, and your account may be banned. Exchanging coins for cash may also violate gambling laws, and it's a common channel for scams and money laundering. Only top up through in-app purchases (App Store / Google Play) or officially announced channels.
