FAQ
Is playing Big Two online legal?
Card and board game apps that use points or in-game coins that can't be cashed out are legal; privately agreeing to settle up in cash counts as gambling.
What's the highest card in Big Two?
For single cards, 2 is the highest and 3 the lowest. Cards of the same rank are compared by suit; the usual order in Taiwan is spades > hearts > diamonds > clubs.
Are social casino apps legal?
"Social casino games" (slots, poker, mahjong, fish shooting games, etc.) that are officially listed on the App Store or Google Play, use virtual coins, and don't let you exchange coins back into cash are video games and legal to play. Sites or apps where you bet real money and can cash out winnings are gambling, which is illegal in Taiwan (Criminal Code Articles 266 and 268), and players can be penalized too.
Can you cash out from a legal social casino?
No. Coins in legal social casino apps can only be used in the game, and there's no official way to exchange them for cash. If someone says you can "cash out" or "exchange for cash," it's not a legal social casino, or it's an illegal coin-dealer transaction.
