- 邊緣世界（RimWorld）宣佈 1.7 版將引擎由 Unity 改為 Ludeon Studios 自行開發的 Waylith Engine，官方表示遊戲外觀與玩法維持不變。
- 官方測試顯示效能提升 2 至 4 倍，啟動、讀取大量模組的存檔、地圖與世界生成及每秒 tick 數等都比 1.6 更快；實際成效會因電腦與模組而異。
- 官方壓力測試中，後期殖民地在 1.7 的效能為 1.6 的 2.2 倍，含 1500 個模組的模組包載入時間由 14 分鐘縮短為 6 分鐘。
- 6 存檔可在 1.7 讀取，1.7 存檔回到 1.6 也能使用；多數模組無須修改即可運作，部分可能因版本號變動而顯示黃色「可能不支援」。
- 使用超過 10 年的舊電腦可能無法執行 1.7，官方請遇到此情況的使用者到官方開發 Discord 回報。
- 7 目前可在 Steam 的 unstable 測試分支試玩，主分支仍為 1.6；Waylith 也支援最新 C# 語言功能，模組作者測試後建議發布標示相容 1.7 的版本。
